The rescue nursery is for threatened or vulnerable plants that would otherwise be destroyed or discarded through development. We work with private landowners to conduct environmental surveys in areas of potential development to identify any sensitive species prior to development activities. We work with the landowners to either relocate the specimens to a suitable location they agree to steward or to the rescue nursery where the plants are fostered and cultivated to assist in reintroduction and repopulation efforts.
Rescue Nursery at Fox & Hen Farm
The RRGFM is a regional market located in Slade, Kentucky at the Powell County Tourism Commission’s Welcome Center. There are more than 30 registered vendors that offer a wide array of goods and services from fresh foods (vegetables, fruits, eggs, meats, bread and baked goods) to value added products (jams, oils, wool scarves and clothing) to services (massage therapy and educational workshops). Additionally, there are several non-profit organizations supporting the market community that provide information and volunteer opportunities.
